MTV EXIT 2009 NEPAL CONCERT TOUR KICKS OFF SEPTEMBER 5
IN KATHMANDU TO RAISE AWARENESS AND
HELP PREVENT HUMAN TRAFFICKING

August 24, 2009 – The MTV EXIT campaign today announced the launch of a nationwide initiative to fight human trafficking through a series of concerts and television programs kicking off on September 5 with “MTV EXIT Live in Kathmandu,” a massive, free concert at Jawala Khel Ground.

MTV EXIT Live in Kathmandu will feature performances by Indian pop star Sunidhi Chauhan and Nepal’s top artists including Nima Rumba, Kranti Ale, and Nalina Chitraker. All have committed their support to fight human trafficking by taking part in the concert.

“I am incredibly proud to perform at this important concert,” Sunidhi Chauhan said. “I hope that through my music and my involvement in this event and the MTV EXIT campaign that millions of people learn about this tragic form of slavery.”

The event will be hosted by Malvika Subba, who narrated the anti-trafficking documentary “SOLD: An MTV EXIT Special” and is the MTV EXIT campaign’s ambassador in Nepal.

MTV EXIT Live in Kathmandu is a free concert starting at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 5. It will be broadcast on Kantipur TV and will include live footage as well as key information about human trafficking.

Three more concerts will follow in Pokhara (12-Sept), Hetauda (15-Sept) and Dharan (19-Sept) featuring top local and international talent. Australian pop sensation, Kate Miller-Heidke will perform at the Pokhara concert, continuing her support of the MTV EXIT campaign and the fight to end exploitation and trafficking.
